Celebrating 70 inspirational Arab sportswomen, this book is based on an exhibition that originated in Qatar in 2011 and went on to have its international dubut in London during the 2012 Olympic Games. Featuring photographs by Brigitte Lacombe and her sister, filmmaker Marian Lacombe, Hey’Ya not only counters stereotypes about Arab women, but also aims to motivate a new generation of athletic girls. The photographers travelled to 20 countries from the Gulf to North Africa to take the portraits of these women, whose stunning images are accompanied by inspiring stories of perseverance, courage and hope.
