Qatar Auto Museum participated in The Geneva International Motor Show in Qatar (GIMS Qatar), at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) from 5 – 14 October 2023.

Hosted by a pioneering and committed nation with a genuine passion for cars, GIMSQ 2023 delivered an unforgettable event, showcasing iconic cars such as the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT and the 1965 Mercer-Cobra Roadster among others.

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing is one of the most important sports cars manufactured in the 20th century. Mercedes produced this model between 1954 and 1957. It was the fastest-manufactured car in Germany during its time. The Mercedes-Benz 300SL has a 215-horsepower engine. It was given the denomination of 300 in reference to its 3-litre engine, SL for its “super light” tubular body, and “Gullwing” due to its distinctive top-hinged, up-swinging doors.​ From the collection of H.E. This 1957 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Tour de France is one of the nine ultimate specification cars featuring coachwork by Sergio Scaglietti's ‘Sculptor of Dreams’, the Italian designer who frequently worked very closely with Enzo Ferrari. It was part of the second series of lightweight aluminum Ferrari 250 GT Berlinettas which featured a sail panel behind the side window with a distinctive row of fourteen cut louvers. From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, a period known as one of the greatest eras of motorsport history, Ferrari 250 GT competition cars won an astounding number of races, dominating the three-liter GT category.

The 1965 Mercer-Cobra Roadster is a rare surviving work by one of the great American automobile designers of the 20th century, Virgil Exner Sr. The Copper Development Association of America wanted to expand and showcase the use of more copper in automobile design and contracted Virgil Exner, Sr., and his son Jr. to turn the concept into reality.
