Today, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Father Amir, inaugurated the new Gallery 6, on the History of Sports in Qatar from 1996 – 2022, at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (3-2-1 QOSM). With just 10 days ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, one of the most technologically advanced museums of its kind in the world unveiled this gallery to showcase to football fans and visitors the sporting history of Qatar and the tremendous contribution of Qatari athletes.
Many of the pioneering athletes were present during the inauguration to greet HH Sheikh Hamad, among them: Mohammed Ghanim,former Qatari football player who played for the Al Sadd Sports Club (SC);Mubarak Anber Aman Al-Ali, former Qatari football defender who played for Qatar in the 1984 Asian Cup; Chairman of the Sports and Environment CommitteeDr. Saif Al Hajari; Hassan Mattar,former Qatari football striker who played for Al Sadd SC and the national team; Ahmed Omar,former Qatari-Lebanese football striker for Al Sadd SC; Sami Mohamed Wafa,retired Qatari goalkeeper who played for Qatar in the 1984 Asian Cup and Al Sadd SC; Adel Khamis,former Qatari footballer who played for the national team and Al-Gharafa SC; Mohammed Mubarak,former Qatari footballer and goalkeeper who played for Qatar SC and Al-Waab SC.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani accompanied HH Sheikh Hamad during the inauguration, presenting a portrait of HH painted by Chinese artist Yan Pei-Ming as a gift.
HH Sheikh Hamad expressed his pride at seeing the vision for 3-2-1 QOSM become a reality and the progress towards building a thriving sporting culture in the country. He expressed his appreciation for the nation’s collective efforts towards professional sports development which has prepared and molded Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
“We wanted to create something that accurately showcases the history and evolution of Qatar’s involvement in sports and football,” said Abdulla Al-Mulla, Director of 3-2-1 QOSM. “It is important for us to reflect on our journey that led to this moment. This storyline of Qatar’s sports development, which is succinctly exhibited in Gallery 6 of the museum, is something that His Highness has pronounced he was impressed by, and takes great pride in,” Mr. Al-Mulla concluded.

The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum is Qatar's museum of sports history, offering an unforgettable and inspiring interactive journey through the history and legacy of sports and the Olympic Games. Abdulla Yousuf Al Mulla has served as the Director of 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum since 2019.
