Baghdad: Eye’s Delight celebrates the most important and influential city ever to have existed in the Islamic world, revealing its outstanding heritage as the capital of the great Abbasid caliphs (750–1258 CE), as well as the dynamic period of prosperity and creative innovation known as its second ‘Golden Age’ in the mid-20th century.

Aiming to foster better understanding between nations, this important book looks at the ancient art of embroidery in Palestinian society and how it has been transformed into a national symbol of patriotism and resistance in the decades following the Nakba of 1948. Including examples of embroidery in intricate detail and exploring its role in everyday life, Labour of Love is one of the most comprehensive books on the subject, showcasing how heritage pieces can transcend time and place to take on a deeper dimension in society.
This is the second edition of the book, published by Qatar Museums in collaboration with the Palestinian Museum to accompany the exhibition Labour of Love: Embroidering Palestinian History presented in Doha as part of the Qatar-MENASA Year of Culture 2022.

Experience a powerful work of art through the pages of this book.
This limited-edition artist’s book presents the series Untitled (Portraits of Martyrs) by Taysir Batniji, made in commemoration of Palestinian martyrs who were killed by Israeli forces during the Second Intifada between 2000 and 2001. The double meaning of absence is explored in this work with the negative silk screened portraits on black only becoming visible from certain angles, evoking the haunting memory of lives that have been lost but are not officially recognised as such. This exceptional book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Taysir Batniji: No Condition Is Permanent at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, in 2022.

Featuring beautiful images and essays by experts in the field, On the Move provides inspiring new insights into the lifestyles, traditions and achievements of nomadic and seminomadic pastoral communities from Central Sahara, the Arabian Peninsula and Inner Asia.
Published to accompany the exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar, On the Move asks readers to reflect on what we might learn from these groups, who traverse difficult terrain and manage physically demanding lives while responding to the seasons and the needs of the animals on whom they depend, and who in turn depend on them. Grounded in research about the everyday lives, histories, technical expertise and cultural creativity of these communities, the book asks if nomads and herders might provide positive models for, and alternative ways to think about, the ‘good life’. As we all look to an uncertain future in a world overtaken by consumerism, destructive extraction and deep social inequalities, On the Move asks if pastoralists might have something to teach us.
