In this video, Palestinian artist Taysir Batniji tells us about the journey that culminated in his solo exhibition at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, No Condition is Permanent.
Titled after an Arabic proverb used to describe the ever-changing nature of circumstance, No Condition is Permanent is both an archive of the political injustice and loss that the people of Palestine have been subjected to, and a declaration of the resilience, hope and power that sustains their struggle.
Batniji's work invites us to bear witness to the ways in which art can serve as resistance to the destruction of war, and the erasure of a people.
